“We’re created to kind of build a traceable source from Alaska to the Midwest for your fish,” said Taylor.

The idea is a relative hit amongst fish connoisseurs in the middle of the country as, according to Taylor, this year Sitka hit their 5,000-member mark.

Morton’s market will offer even more throughout the summer. On June 11, Grafelman Farms Rescue will be at the market with animals from the rescue, and in addition to the fish and bread, there are other local culinary offerings and artisans.

The market is open from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Tuesdays, and will run until Sept. 3.
