The Morton Park District is offering a new program called Junior High Activities in an effort to get junior high students involved in activities over the summer,

This is a special drop-in program for students entering 7th or 8th grade this fall.

“That’s an age we are really trying to target this year, because we don’t see the participation numbers in activities at that age,” said Holly Olden, Morton Park District superintendent of Recreation.

Two of the activities, basketball and dodgeball, will be held inside the Lincoln Elementary School gymnasium, 100 S. Nebraska Ave., Morton.

“We partner with the (Morton) school district in a lot of different ways,” said Olden. “They have some of their high school teams play their home games at our parks, then they allow the park district to use their facilities.”

The following activities are co-ed, do not require registration and are open to non-residents.
